Representatives of the Young Researchers of Serbia, BOS, and RERI, who are project partners on the VOLVOX – The Strength of Community, took active role in the second meeting of the Working Group for Drafting the National Environmental Protection Strategy – “Green Agenda for Serbia” dedicated to defining the Strategy goals in accordance with the pillars of the Green Agenda in Serbia.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Sandra Dokic, opened the plenary. Antoine Avignon spoke on behalf of the EU Delegation while the key goals based on the strategic documents and the Green Agenda were presented by the expert team in charge of developing the Strategy.
Representing the civil sector, whose voice is relevant and necessary in drafting the umbrella document for environmental protection in the country, YRS and its project partners provided inputs, comments and contributions within the pillars for which they were selected, and followed the pillar that concerns sustainable food systems and rural development. During the two-day workshops, the list of problems and challenges was finalized, strategic problems were transformed into strategic goals, and sets of performance indicators have been defined jointly.
YRS Executive Director Tanja Petrovic briefly presented the VOLVOX project and announced the onset of the consultative process with environmental CSOs in March, which will follow the meetings of the Working Group. These consultations are aiming to secure the participative and inclusive approach to creating the Strategy.
