Danube Art Master (2011-2018)

Danube Art Master (2011-2018)

Year of Realisation:

2018

Goal and Project Description:

International competition “Danube Art Master” is the activity of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River and the Global Water Partnership for Central and Eastern Europe. The competition targets the age of 6-18 years and is implemented in all 14 countries on the Danube basin since 2004.

The Republic Directorate for Water of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of the Republic of Serbia in 2010 proposed to the Young Researchers of Serbia to coordinate this competition in Serbia, which is accepted and continuously occurs year after year.

There are two competition categories: artwork and one-minute video (from 2017), which contestants can express on a given annual theme.

The annual activity dynamics are as follows:

  1. In April (most often) the topic of the competition is announced;
  2. On this website MIS announce the terms and timing of the competition;
  3. Individually they also contact primary and secondary schools, NGOs, youth clubs, etc .;
  4. Works in electronic format are sent to MIS at the end of May-early June;
  5. The announcement of the winner is related to the Central Day of the Danube Day in Serbia;
  6. Winning works at the national level in both categories participate in the international competition on the Danube Basin;
  7. The announcement of the entire Danube artist (at the full-size letter) is most common in October.
Project Results:

The most important results are that every year information about the competition arrives in over 2000 primary and secondary schools, preschool institutions, children’s homes and organizations working with children and youth in Serbia. From time to time, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development is assisting us in the dissemination of information through the Department for coordination of work if school administration. In this way, we contribute to education on important topics relevant to the entire Danube basin.

Works from 25 schools arrive for the competition on average annually. The last competition was the largest in terms of the number of schools and the number of individual works. In 2018, we received 121 artwork and 16 videos, created by 250 students from 30 schools in Serbia.
