Workcamp Caravan is an international study visit organised by Young Researchers of Serbia from the 1st till the 8th of August 2016. Representatives of 8 voluntary service organisations from Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Italy, Poland, Greece, Spain and Belgium will visit 6 out of 47 international voluntary workcamps which are being organised in Serbia this summer with the support of 30+ local organisations and the Ministry of youth and sports of the Republic of Serbia.
Workcamp Caravan will visit 6 thematically different workcamps with long tradition, having over 120 international and national volunteers participate in solving problems of public interest in these local communities: they work and promote sustainable eco-tourism in nature protected areas such as Koviljsko-petrovaradinski rit (Sremski Karlovci) and the lake Kraljevac (Deliblato); they clear and mark hicking paths connecting nearby villages with nearby resting areas like lakes, woods, parks (Kusadak, Obrenovac); they organise a children’s festival and conduct workshops for young people about the transportation safety (Kragujevac); they organise a cultural event with theatre, concerts and graffiti performace with the aim of cultural decentralisation in Kosjeric.
Motivated by its 40th anniversary this year, Young Researchers of Serbia together with 8 Caravan participants and more then 30 national partners proudly present international voluntary workcamps to the widest community both in Serbia and worldwide - a unique volunteering programe that exists as a global movement since the 1st World War. This global movement gathers more than 90 voluntary service organisations worldwide around networks such as the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations, Cordinating Committee for International Voluntary Services, Service Civil International. For its 40 years of work, Young Researchers of Serbia has organised more than 500 workcamps, sent approx. 7000 volunteers from Serbia and hosted approx. 4000 from abroad.
Workcamp Caravan is one of the activities of the project “Mix & Match - European dimension to national realities of voluntary service” co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
